Spencer Lord to Direct the Adapted Screenplay of his “Brain Mechanic” Book
HOLLYWOOD, CA – After fourteen years as a hit book, Spencer Lord’s “Brain Mechanic” is now in development to be a hit movie. His adapted screenplay, “The Pardon Formula,” explores the struggles of a teacher who overcomes a criminal record with the help of a cognitive behavioral therapist. The film is a strikingly original roller coaster through poverty and injustice in America, and will be followed by a social campaign for change.
Spencer interned for Frank Casey in the Warner Bros. publicity office during undergrad at the University of Chicago, before going to film school in Florida to study film theory and production. He worked his way up from grip to First A.D. as a full-time filmmaker and comedian, when his mom, Joy, a clinical psychotherapist (and inspiration for the therapist in The Pardon Formula) sparked his interest in cognitive behavioral therapy which led to the publication of his book “The Brain Mechanic,” by HCI Books, Inc.
“The Pardon Formula” adapted screenplay was written by the author in 2020 for his feature directorial debut. A new edition of his book titled “Spencer Lord’s Brain Mechanic” is scheduled for release in January 2024. Principal photography on the project is scheduled for July, 2025 in Simi Valley, CA.
